Enter Here

We are a bloody mess, and it was only a God willing to come low and get bloody too that would qualify as Savior to lift us up from the tragedy we had made and the death we have died.  But He doesn’t remove us from the scene of the crime.  He nestles us on His lap right there, draws us up next to His strong chest to hear and feel His heartbeat, then gives us a blessing in a breath close enough to fill us and enliven us again, and sets us down, asking if we’d be willing to help Him get it put back together.

We sometimes think that serving is always going to be exhausting things, but usually it is the remarkably easy ones that crop up in a typical day.  Most of the time it will be simple responses we are totally able to do…offering a cup of water (or a cup of coffee), sitting with someone who is in pain, some practical help to a friend or stranger in need, an arm around someone who is afraid, reminding them they are not alone, or looking a person in the eye and saying "I'm sorry."  We don’t have to be an expert, we just have to notice what is around us and be present.

He crossed the gap for us.  And He calls us to step over all the red tape that makes it seem complicated or the yellow tape that too easily gives us a reason not to go.  Cross.  It's why we're here.
