I must be careful about the sticks I walk with on slippery
slopes. If I keep feeling the risk
of the muddy incline, grabbing this and that to keep good footing, they can easily start to become plunged in around me.
We are all prone to carrying too much. Fear does that. The sticks that are to be a
momentary help toward the next step can too quickly become a weapon in our hand,
a fence of protection, or, in extreme cases, a prison we may not even recognize
we are in because we can still see through its bars.
Some are learning to let go of the sticks and looking up to
see a companion who reaches out a hand to help.
